Special Conference On ‘Stop Sex-Selection”

Going by available statistics, five million female foetuses are aborted every year in India. About 2,000 girls go missing and about 25,000 wives are burnt in dowry harassment cases across the country, P.P. Job, founder and president of Michael Job Memorial Educational Institutions, said in Coimbatore on Monday.
He appealed to the public not to abort the girl child


He was speaking at a special conference on ‘Stop Sex-Selection” organised by the centre at Sulur, a release here has said. He appealed to the public not to abort the girl child.They could leave the child at the centre if they did not want to take care of it, he said.Let girls be born. Saving them would automatically save the society, he added.The centre also ran an orphanage which adopted and educated girl children. It had about 300 adopted girls. Apart from students from schools and colleges, 20 delegates from various countries too attended the conference.
