Today’s youth are already breaking the social shackles that are harming society. They should strive more to eliminate all forms of social evils, S. Prabakaran, Director, International Council of Jurists, and Vice-Chairman, All India Bar Association, said here on Wednesday. Speaking at a function organised by the School of Commerce and International Business of the G.R. Damodaran College of Science, he urged students to learn to take progressive decisions. “There have been various social evils in our society. Thanks to the inter-caste and inter-religious marriages that are happening around us, the evils pertaining to religion and caste are very much on the decline. The credit for this goes to our youngsters who are taking bold steps to narrow the divide,” Mr. Prabakaran said.
He exhorted the students to streamline their energy for shaping the country’s future. “You should gain knowledge about the legal system and fight for Human Rights and legal rights. This will not only make you responsible citizens, but also worthy politicians working for social causes,” he added. A. Ponnusamy, Principal, said the study of commerce was becoming more attractive with the entry level salaries in commerce becoming very attractive. “There will be better opportunities as India is slated to become the third largest banking hub in 2040,” he said.
