Traffic management plan for Annual Floral Carnival
Udhagamandalam: A traffic management plan has been put in place by the Nilgiris police for the Annual Floral Carnival scheduled to be held at the Government Botanical Garden here on May 19 and 20, according to Superintendent of Police, Vidya D. Kulkarni.On the days of the show, all vehicles coming towards Ooty from Mettupalayam will be allowed via Burliar.Vehicles proceeding to Mettupalayam and beyond from Ooty and Coonoor will be diverted via Kattabettu and Kotagiri.Except lorries, all the other vehicles proceeding to Coonoor from Ooty will ply as usual.Tourist vehicles and Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) buses will be permitted to go to Mettupalayam from Ooty via Coonoor and Burliar after dusk if there was a reduction in the inflow of vehicles.All the TNSTC buses coming from Coonoor will be provided parking space at the Regional Transport Office here.TNSTC buses coming from Kotagiri will be diverted to the Central Bus Stand via the Arts College Road, Stanes Junction and the ATC Junction.All the TNSTC buses coming from Gudalur and Masinagudy will be allowed to go to the bus stand through the usual route. Tourist buses and maxi cabs coming from Gudalur and Masinagudy will be diverted to the parking area at the Kandhal playground. They will not be allowed to proceed to the Boat House.
Long route buses from Coimbatore and Mettupalayam sides will be allowed to go to the Central Bus Stand through the Etienne's Road, ATC Junction, Race Course and Dasaprakash Junction.Coimbatore and Mettupalayam bound buses from the Central Bus Stand will be diverted via the Goods Shed Road and Stephen's Church.Only those with VIP passes will be allowed to park their vehicles at the Breeks parking area near the Government Botanical Garden.
