City Police Formed 10 Spl Teams

The Coimbatore City Police have formed ten special police teams to execute the 794 pending non-bailable warrants against accused involved in law and order, crime, traffic investigation and city crime branch cases. A decision regarding this issue was taken at a meeting that was convened in order to enhance the co-ordination between the police and the judiciary.

The Principal District Sessions Judge, G. Chockalingam along with his Additional Sessions Judge, Fast Track Court Judges and judges of courts with sessions jurisdictions, City Police Commissioner, K.C. Mahali, Deputy Commissioners of Police, S. Rajendran (Law and Order), K. Thondiraj (Crime and Traffic), P. Nagarajan (Headquarters) and all Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Inspectors and others took part.

Of the ten teams that will function, four teams would deal with the warrants in law and order cases, four in crime cases and two in Traffic Investigation Wing and City Crime Branch Cases. The judiciary also sought the co-operation of the police in production of witnesses on the date of hearing, appearance of the investigating officers, submission of final report, charge sheet within the specified period and ensuring that the police reports had no lapses therein. These measures would help in avoiding unnecessary adjournment of cases, so that disposal could be expedited and speedy justice rendered to those who approached the courts, it was pointed out.
