Government Hospitals to be Upgraded !
Tamil Nadu Health department would complete the ongoing works of infrastructure development and improvement of facilities in Government hospitals across the State by 2010, a senior official said today.As part of the rs.500 crore programme, the department has completed works in 35 hospitals in five districts, worth rs.60 crore, D W C Davidar, special secretary and project director, Health department told reporters at Tirupur, about 50 KMs from here.
The department would take up works in 235 hospitals in the remaining 24 districts soon, so as to complete them within the stipulated time of 2010, Davidar said.Davidar, who inspected 15 Government hospitals, barring Coimbatore Government hospital, in the district, said that upgradation and additional facilities would be carried out in these hospitals at a total cost of rs.11 crore, which would be completed within one year.
The Government, as part of the World Bank funding, has sanctioned rs.73.85 lakh to Thondamuthur, rs.79.75 lakh to Sulur, Palladam rs.22.85 lakh, Avanashi rs.59.05 lakh, Annur rs.88.50 lakh, Udumalpet rs.112.50 lakh, Valparai rs.10 lakh, Vellipatti rs.5 lakh, Kottur rs.10 lakh, Pollachi rs.10 lakh, Karadibhavi rs.153.25 lakh, Tirupur rs.221.65 lakh, Mettupalayam rs.32 lakh and Periyanaickenpalayam rs.83.55 lakh, the official said.
He said a 50-bed maternity ward would be constructed in Tirupur hospital, adding maternity wards would be constructed in Sulur, Avanashi and Udumalpet hospital.
