BU planning examination reforms

After the workshop on ‘Introduction of New and Innovative Programmes’ to make arts and science disciplines attractive to students, Bharathiar University has planned to organise a workshop on ‘Examination Reformation’ in April.

According to Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam, all stakeholders of higher education including teachers, students, parents and college principals will be invited to present their views. “After my visit to some countries, I have been able to observe that their classroom and examination systems are different from ours. Classes are held only for three days a week. Rest of the days are spent in preparing seminars and assignments of social relevance. Students are continuously evaluated based on regular activities. There is a need to bring about some change in our system too. The workshop is aimed at doing this,” the Vice-Chancellor said.

The university was in the process of receiving suggestions on new courses. Mr. Thiruvasagam said that whatever the course be, SAP programmes would be made part of the curriculum. Also, the university would offer a minimum of three electives per subject under the Choice Based Credit System.
