Special teams for unresolved cases
City Police Commissioner C.K. Gandhirajan has ordered constitution of six special police teams, each to be led by Assistant Commissioners of Police, for investigating unresolved cases.Instead of waiting for the investigating officers to detect these cases along with the regular work load, it was decided to group these cases based on the modus operandi. The special teams would expedite investigations in six murder for gain cases, five robbery cases and two other unresolved murder cases.The meeting also decided to ensure periodical training to the police officers with the help of Cyber Society of India for fine tuning their skills in investigating cyber crimes. It was also decided to work in close co-ordination with Coimbatore Medical College authorities for ensuring speedy disposal of wound certificates and post-mortem certificates. Mr. Gandhirajan also ordered for posting additional traffic police personnel for regulating traffic. The Commissioner asked to identify accident-prone spots and timings of each accident.
