Rigid enforcement for sun control film

Giving time for the motorists to comply with the rule, the City Police has announced that there would be a rigid enforcement of the Motor Vehicle Rule regarding use of sun control film from Sunday.City Police Commissioner C.K. Gandhirajan said that according to the State Government order, the black colour sun control cool film papers pasted on the wind shields and window door glasses of cars, vans, call taxis and four wheelers should be removed immediately.

As per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989, Rule 100 (2), the light penetration capacity of the front and rear glasses should be 70 per cent and that of the side window panes should be 50 per cent.All sun control films that do not adhere to the aforesaid point should be removed before December 15. Mr. Gandhirajan said that action would be taken from December 16 against vehicles that do not abide by the rule.The police to be role model to fellow motorists have started removing the sun control film on all police vehicles.Removal of sun control films had begun right from the car of the Police Commissioner and all officials had been asked to remove the cool films immediately, Mr. Gandhirajan said.When caught for the first time, the motorist would be fined Rs. 100 and Rs. 300 for subsequent violations, he said.
