Coimbatore Rifle Club will train young guns
Target shooting wasn't popular until Army Major Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore clinched that lone silver medal for India at the Athens Olympics. Today, the sport has caught the fancy of the youngsters across the country, including Coimbatore.Target shooting is a sport that needs a lot concentration and muscle control.To shoot the maximum, one needs to be accurate.And, to be accurate one needs to gain control over body and mind.To familiarise on the finer points of the sport, the Coimbatore Rifle Club has come forward to train young guns at the PRS shooting range from May 2 to May 12.
The club, which has been conducting summer camps for school children on a regular basis, will help children handle air rifle and air pistols to begin with and later switch to .22 rifles and pistols.The Coimbatore junior women air rifle team surprised many by clinching a bronze in the last edition of the national shooting championship in Indore.Most of the members from this team were shaped in one such summer camp conducted by the club.The club is confident of moulding many such champion materials if only youngsters avail this rare opportunity.For details: contact 6539398 or 98422-25255.
