Hosiery park on a 4-acre site at Tirupur

TIRUPUR: A Tirupur-based construction company is developing a hosiery park on a 4-acre site at Tirumuruganpoondy, 8 km from here.
The first phase of the Rs.16-crore project will be ready by April, K.J. Prabhakaran, chief executive officer, J S Hosiery Park, told reporters on Wednesday. The park would have 23 industrial sheds meant for small and medium size entrepreneurs. The project was launched two years ago. With a minimum of 7,000 sq. ft. built up area, each unit could provide employment to around 200 workers. The park would house stitching, embroidery, knitting and compacting units.

Common facilities

The project would be completed by 2007-end. The park has common facilities such as conference hall, canteen, roads and streetlights.
Mr. Prabhakaran said the company was planning to construct 1,000 economy flats for workers at a cost of between Rs.6 to 7 lakh near Kangeyam Road. It would have amenities such as badminton court, park and gymnasium.
