National motorsports at Coimbatore

Two-day national motorsports from tomorrow
Coimbatore: More than 10 drivers from Sri Lanka are expected to vie for honours in the inaugural two-day national racing event, organised by Meco Motorsports at Kari Motor Speedway,Coimbatore from February 17.
The first two races in the morning would be two 10-lap sprint races in the Formula LGB-Esteem Single seater. The afternoon session would witness two-hour endurance races, a National event with Asian Zone participation.
The endurance race will have two classes - Formula LGB Esteem and the Formula LGB Hyundai Class, a release from L G Sports said on Thursday.
Each team will have two drivers. Each driver is allowed a maximum of 30 minutes driving time on track, after which a compulsory driver change has to be made. Re-fuelling and tyre-changing is permitted during the pit stops.
Romani De Silva, Dinesh Jayawardene, Ronan De Silva, Susan tha Gunawardene, Rikaz Khalid, Dilan Senevirtane, Shehara Jayawardene, Bri Ponnambalam, Nalin Gunasekara, Buddhika De Silva, Reyaz Farouk and Devinda De Silva, would feature in the Sri Lankan team.
The Indian drivers are Gaurav Desai, Anand Prasad, G R Shankar Narayanan, Sudanand Daniel and Karner Christian.
Team for endurance races: Akkineni Anand Prasad and Adity Akkineni (Gemini-MecoRacing), Ashwin Sundar and Gaurav Dalal (Gemini-Meco Racing), GR Shankar Narayan and Sudanand Daniel (Meco), Karner Christian and Ayub Khan (Meco) Karana Goenka and Anand Philar (Meco), B Vijayakumar and Sanjay Balu, Sivakumar and Fazal Khan (Prime Racing).
