Over 1.5 lakh stamps on display at Coimbatore
Coimbatore, Feb 2: Over 1.5 lakh stamps, some of them very rare and valuable, are on display at a two-day philatelic exhibition, which began here today.
Organised by Department of Posts, the 'Kovaipex-2007,' has attracted 112 entries, of which 85 were child and youth class philatelists, providing an amazing treasure house of collection, Post Master General K V Sundar Rajan, said, while inaugurating the function.
Colourful Maximum Cards have been brought out on the theme of Gandhi and Endangered Birds of India. Besides, a special cover to mark the Golden Jubilees Celebrations of Coimbatore Institute of Technology was also released on the occasion.
Explanations on stamp collecting has also been provided at the venue--Techno Park in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Sundarajan said, adding that a free training class on the art of stamp collection would be held tomorrow.
