Role of Panchayat Raj institutions
Coimbatore:Role of PanchayatRaj institution in implementation of the recommendations of the National Commission on Farmers (NCF), would be discussed at a one-day seminar scheduled here on February 16.
With participation of 250 panchayat presidents and farmers, this would be a consultation session on the role of panchayat raj leaders.
Vice-chancellors of Agricultural Universities in India, Panchayat Raj Institutions at Village, Block and District level, agricultural scientists, development department staff and rural economists, would participate in the discussion, with Dr M S Swaminathan, NCF chief, giving special address.
Tamil Nadu Rural Industries minister, Pongalur Palanisamy would inauguarate the seminar, in which C K Gariyali, Secretary, Tamil Nadu Governor, B N Yugandhar, member, Planning Commission, Delhi, would also participate, sources in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, joint organisers, said.
The seminar would be as part of the 3-day 8th Agricultural Science Congress, beginning here from tomorrow.
