412 students have been shortlisted
Coimbatore, March 26: As many as 412 students have been shortlisted for job offers by core companies at the maiden 'Job Expo' organised by the Anna University, Coimbatore.Ten large corporates from various fields like IT, ITeS, manufacturing and biotechnology took part in the two-day expo, which began Saturday and 2,400 students (already assessed and walk-ins) participated.Companies like Barnas, Isteel and Sharp Infor absorbed the maximum number of candidates and 31 students were issued with job offer letters on the spot, university Vice-chancellor Dr R Radhakrishnan told reporters here.The core companies said they were on an expansion mode and this event would meet their immediate hiring needs as the candidates would be joining them in a matter of two months.Radhakrishnan said that majority of the students analysed preferred jobs in Information Technology-related companies, expecting higher salaries.
