Verification of photo voters begins in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: The third phase of verification for preparation of photo voter rolls in respect of Singanallur and Perur Assembly segments will go on for 10 days beginning Sunday.
Verification officers would visit door-to-door and collect the photographs of the voters besides verifying the other details such as age, relationship and address.

The 231 verification officers for Singanallur and 235 for Perur Assembly constituencies were imparted training by the Coimbatore South Tahsildar V. Subramanian on the procedures involved in verifying the photo voter electoral rolls at the Government Arts College on Saturday.
In the first two phases, the verification officers had completed the drive in two phases wherein 63,708 voters were given photographs in Singanallur while it was 47,393 in Perur whereas 67,301 voters in Singanallur and 65,780 voters in Perur were yet to give their photographs.
Mr. Subramanian appealed to the electorate to co-operate in ensuring cent per cent successful completion of photo voter roll preparations by promptly keeping the photographs, address proof and age proof when the verification officers visited their houses.


In the event of the voter not being present, the verification officers would leave a notice at the house asking the voter to approach the taluk office with photographs and relevant documents. In the event of the voter failing to turn up, action would be initiated to delete the names of the voters from the electoral rolls under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act.
