Avinashilingam University's mission to uplift of women
Education must aim at 100 per cent literacy and it should bring about socio-economic development, Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala said on Sunday.Motivating the youth, providing proper education, igniting young minds and rural women towards the development of the nation was the need hour, he said laying the foundation stone for a new auditorium at the Avinashilingam University for Women, here.Saying that women literacy had increased a lot and women were occupying key positions in various fields now-a-days, he expressed the hope that India would attain 100 per cent literacy if more institutions like this university came forward with a mission to work for the uplift of women and rural population.
Education being the pillar of a strong nation, the combined efforts of all, would make a nation into a developed one, he said.Development of the status of women would surely lead our Nation to becoming a developed nation and that too very soon, the Governor said.State Rural Industries Minister Pongalur N Palanisamy said the State Government would introduce a common syllabus in schools, instead of separate ones like CBSE, matriculation, within one or two years.Of the total of Rs 44,000 crore budget, the State Government has allocated nearly Rs.10,000 crore for the education sector, Palanisamy said.
