Coimbatore back to its Cool climate

Two days of mild shower on 13.04.2007 and 14.04.2007 and the downpour on 14.04.2007 brought the much-required respite for Coimbatoreans, who were braving the soaring mercury level. The heavy downpour on 14.04.2007 night for nearly three hours across the district resulted in disruption in power supply. While snapping of power lines led to disruption in most of the places, the TNEB authorities resorted to shutdown in other areas as a matter of precaution owing to gusty wind. Power supply was restored in many places by midnight immediately after the rain stopped. But in areas where uprooting of trees or falling of branches resulted in snapping of power lines, the authorities battled till 15.04.2007 morning for restoration of power supply.Even the two to three hour of rain resulted in the inundation of the entire Puliakulam road (stretching from Sungam Junction to Carmel Garden School). The residents had to wade through knee-deep water till 15.04.2007 morning.
