India International Career and Educational Fair

Information on various foreign universities and the courses offered by them are available at the India International Career and Educational Fair at the Padmavathi Ammal Cultural Centre.The exhibition, which started here,is attracting a large crowd of students, most of them looking to migrate to other countries for better educational prospects. One only has to stop for a while and ponder over which to choose. Stalls from universities from the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Australia, New Zealand, China and Russia are present.Engineering, medicine, management, social work, business, arts and literature and a host of other short-term courses in Information Technology are available.

"Most of the foreign universities have their intakes in February and September. It will be useful for the final year students to collect details of the courses so that they get enough time to prepare," said S. Thiagarajan., Director of Indus Fairs and Events India, the organisers of the fair.Though primarily aimed at college students, it also offers interesting options to those who have just completed higher secondary education.Overseas consultants hand out pamphlets and offer information on courses, eligibility, availability of student visas, work permits and accommodation.Some of the foreign universities are also offering scholarships based on merit.


Colleges from Coimbatore and some from other parts of the country are participating. Some of them have spot admissions.The Coimbatore District Employment Office has put up a stall. It has displayed offers from private companies. Separate sections on career counselling will enable parents and students to get a clear idea of choosing the right path. The fair is on till April 22.
