One million jobs in Next 5 Years at Coimbatore

The Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Cluster Development Initiatives Company aims at creating one million new jobs during the next five years through its cluster programmes.
According to R.C.M. Reddy, Chief Executive Director of its cluster development initiative, the company has identified or started work in about 50 clusters covering various sectors, including textiles, handicrafts, pharmaceuticals, glassware, bamboo, agro-processing and leather.


These clusters are developed as public-private partnerships and are expected to attract Rs. 15,000 crore to Rs. 20,000 crore investments. The aim is to create adequate infrastructure, provide financial aid wherever needed, help the units achieve standardisation, train the workers and identify markets for the products.


Some of these were bamboo cluster in Tripura, leather in Kanpur and Andhra Pradesh, glassware in Moradabad and handloom in Andhra Pradesh.
