Rs.1 Cr worth Decoration for Muthumariamman

With Tamil Nadu celebrating the new year's day with great enthusiasm, a temple in the city has specially decorated its presiding deity, Muthumariamman (Goddess), with ornaments and cash worth over Rs.one crore.

The famous Muthumariamman temple, situated in Kattur, is also celebrating its 67th annual day and the Idol of the Goddess was decorated as 'Dhanalakshmi' (Goddess of Wealth).

Setting the background with currency notes in the denomination of Rs.1000, currency notes of Rs.500 and Rs.100 were placed under the foot and two sides of the idol, as part of the decoration, all worth about Rs.40 lakh, temple authorities claimed. Besides this, the idol was adorned with gold and diamond ornaments worth over Rs.60 lakh, and there was a beeline of devotees to witness the decoration.
