Smile in the Police face boz of administration cares
West Zone police are embarking on a mission to help families of police personnel in getting for their children seats in schools and colleges besides jobs for those who have completed their education. The exercise is aimed at telling the police personnel that the administration cares for the welfare of their families as well.Inspector-General of Police, West Zone, K. Rajendran, said the Deputy Inspectors-General of Police of the Salem and Coimbatore ranges and the Superintendents of Police of seven districts in the zone had been asked to ascertain the number of families of police personnel trying for admissions for their children in schools and colleges and also the number of families on the lookout for employment opportunities for their children. The list was prepared after an interaction with the personnel in every station. Though the exercise will be a continuous process, the first phase will be completed by May 15.The list contained a request for 363 admissions in schools and colleges (in arts and science as well as professional colleges). The police will impress upon the private college managements to relax conditions for admission. However, admissions will be on merit. With regard to requests for employment, 919 applications were received of which 544 jobs were identified. The personnel had been asked to give willingness for their children to be relocated. In respect of admissions to schools and colleges requests have come in for 363 seats for which 244 had been identified. The police personnel spend most of their time in discharge of their duties and they seldom have any time to look after their families.
Hence the police administration has chosen to extend this help as a welfare measure. Such measures would definitely boost their morale and make them perform better, Mr. Rajendran said. The police are roping in the services of colleges and institutes that offered computer education for extending a crash course in computers free of cost to the poor people, especially the youth.
