3rd summer festival of music and dance by BVB

Udhagamandalam: The three-day third summer festival of music and dance organised by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), the Nilgiris Kendra, concluded at Coonoor recently with a memorable performance by the renowned Carnatic vocalist T.M.Krishna. His resonant and mellifluous voice coupled with his classy and aesthetic performance provided a fitting finale.The festival was inaugurated by the President, Pharmacy Council of India, B.Suresh. The opening performance was a violin duet by the Mysore Brothers - Nagaraj and Manjunath - which turned out to be an engrossing curtain raiser.Their exquisite playing technique and pleasing melodies were a treat to connoisseurs of carnatic music.

The second day featured a Kuchipudi performance by Uma Muralikrishna. Her intricate footwork and display of `bhava' were well appreciated by the audience. Pointing out that the BVB is committed to the promotion of Indian culture and tradition worldwide, the Chairman of the Kendra M.R. Srinivasan said that as part of the effort renowned artistes are brought to the Nilgiris every year.
