Copenhagen summit: City students express solidarity
In a bid to create awareness on climate change and express solidarity with the Copenhagen summit, environmental engineering students of Park College of Technology held a candlelight vigil from 6.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. at the college entrance on December 12.
According to a pamphlet released by the college, global warming was the biggest threat to living species. Scientists say a further rise of 3 to 4 degrees centigrade would ravage the planet.The Copenhagen Climate Change Summit is an important event where 192 countries are taking part.
The summit aims to bring together the rich and developing countries to fight climate change.Lights went off in all Park institutions during the period to support the event.More than 400 students took part in the vigil.
