Major accident boz of Rain at Tirupur
Twenty-seven persons were killed and five injured when a compound wall collapsed on a bar attached to a TASMAC shop at Angeripalayam, near Tirupur, about 60 km from here tonight, police said.The bodies, removed from the debris by fire and rescue service personnel with the assistance of police and members of the public, were yet to be identified.The injured were admitted to a government hospital in Tirupur.
The 22-foot-tall wall, dividing the bar run by state-owned TASMAC and a private company, was said to be in wet condition following heavy rains which lashed the area for nearly an hour.The victims were either sitting or consuming liquor in the bar when the wall collapsed on them.Rescue operations were on, police said.
