'Mid-term conference' for surgeons
A three-day 'mid-term conference' is being held here from May 18 to update surgeons on newer frontiers in Minimal Access Surgery and accrediting its continuing medical education programmes.Indian Association of Gastro Intestinal Endosurgeons is conducting the meet.Around 200 laparoscopic surgeons from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Singapore are expected to attend the conference, Dr V Venkatesh, Chairman, V G Hospital, the organisers, told reporters here today.
A two-day workshop would discuss some of the difficult and advanced surgeries like cancer of the stomach, cancer of oesophagus, surgery for cancer colon, rectum, hernia surgery, pancreatic cyst, he said.A one-day workshop would focus on uterine fibroid, cervical cancer surgery and operative hysteroscopy.Around 30 different types of laparoscopic surgeries would be performed totally free of cost to the deserving patients.The conference - Laparolink-2007 - would have a tele-conference from France and the US.
