Pass percentage was 89.23 in Coimbatore
The Higher Secondary examination results have improved by 3.5 per cent in Coimbatore educational district, said S. Karmegam, Chief Educational Officer.Announcing the results at the Presentation Convent School here on Monday, he said that out of the 15, 879 students who appeared for the examination in the Coimbatore educational district in March 2007, the pass percentage was 89.23.The 15 Corporation schools in the district had a pass percentage of 82.72 followed by the 20 Government schools with 78.94 per cent. The pass percentage registered by aided schools was 92.05 and unaided schools, 88.98 per cent. The matriculation schools showed a pass percentage of 94.96.With the district securing a couple of ranks, the overall performance had been appreciable, the CEO added. V. Jayamohan of SIV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Sirumugai, who scored 1,179 is the district topper. (He also secured third position in the State).S. Sowmiya of GRG Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Peelamedu, who secured 1,176 was the second in the Coimbatore revenue district. G. Shmruti of Avila Convent Matriculation Higher Secondary School, with 1,170 was the third.
The overall toppers (those who had taken French as the second language) were N.R. Sathyanarayana of Shree Baldevdas Kikani Matriculation Higher Secondary School, who scored 1,181 and Shilpa. S of Avila Convent who also scored 1,181. Chandru. R of SBOA Matriculation Higher Secondary School scored 1,180 and Lakshmi Mathumathi of BVM Higher Secondary School, Pollachi, scored 1,177.H. Meena of Avila Convent Matriculation Higher Secondary School was the State topper in Zoology and Botany (scoring 200 out of 200) and S. Parvathy of Suburban Matriculation Higher Secondary School, secured the State second rank in Business Mathematics and Commerce.
Tirupur educational district had done better than Pollachi and Coimbatore with an over all pass percentage of 90.33 per cent pass. Praveen. V of SRSI Matriculation Higher Secondary School, with 1,158 came second in Tirupur educational eistrict and V. Devanand, of the same school, came third place with 1,157.
