RPF's eagle eye catched 19 persons
In a drive against touts and brokers, capitalising on peak summer season rush, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) police personnel in the last four days have arrested 19 persons.Following reports about touts and agents booking tickets under fictitious names and selling them at a premium rate, the RPF Divisional Security Commissioner, Jyotikumar Satija and Assistant Commissioner, Morris Fernandez organised raids at the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters across Coimbatore.
Raids were conducted at the reservation counters at Gandhipuram, North Coimbatore, Coimbatore Junction and Podanur. Cases were registered against 19 persons. Magistrate Court imposed fine on 18 of them while one of the brokers Anilkumar of Podanur was remanded in judicial custody. He was found to have10 tickets and Rs. 8,000.Commissioner of Police C.K. Gandhirajan on Tuesday ordered the detention of two persons under the Goondas Act. The police said T. Madanagopal of Musiri in Tiruchi District and C.R. Shankar of Seeraniackenpalayam were arrested on charges of waylaying and robbing Anandakumar of three sovereign gold chain on April 4 at Ramanathapuram.
