Traffic diversions due to May day processions
The city police have announced traffic diversions on Tuesday in view of two May Day processions. One procession will begin at 3 p.m. at the V.O.C. Park and go through A.T.T. Colony, Balasundaram Road, Women's Polytechnic, Avarampalayam Road, Chinnasamy Naidu Road-Avarampalayam Road Junction, 100 Feet Road and end at Sivananda Colony.The other procession will begin at 4 p.m. at V.K.K. Menon Road and take N.V.N. Road, 100 Feet Road-Sathyamangalam Road Junction and reach Six Corner. These procession routes will be off limits for normal traffic.According to a police press release, the following traffic diversions will be in force from 2 p.m.: Vehicles heading for Avanashi Road from Nanjappa Road through Park Gate should take the entire stretch of Nanjappa Road to reach Avanashi Road.
When the procession reaches Balasundaram Road, vehicles from Avanashi Road should take the flyover on this road and then Nanjappa Road to reach Gandhipuram instead of the Women's Polytechnic route.Vehicles from Gandhipuram to the eastern parts of the city (such as Peelamedu) will have to take Nanjappa Road and reach Avanashi Road. Heavy vehicles from Sathyamangalam Road and Mettupalayam Road (via Sanganur) will be diverted through Kalapatti Road towards Avanashi Road. Other vehicles through Sanganur Road can reach the city through Mettupalayam Road and Brooke Bond Road.Heavy vehicles from Tiruchi Road can take Vellalore Road and Nanjundapuram Road to reach Podanur. Vehicles that normally take the Mettupalayam Road, ARC and Sivananda Colony can reach various areas through Brooke Bond Road and Avanashi Road Flyover.
