Inaugurating the programme, Udhagamandalam MLA B.Gopalan said that the developments taking place rapidly at the global level had made it imperative for students to be computer savvy. They should also ensure that they had a good command over the English language.District Employment Officer P. Dhanabalan lamented that despite providing various facilities the educated unemployed in the Nilgiris were reluctant to attend training programmes.
Pointing out that many of them lacked enthusiasm, he said that in the present highly competitive scenario students should not only be well versed in English and Tamil, but also in Hindi. He commended the INC for joining hands with the employment office in organising the free training programmes.Information and Public Relations Officer J.Chandran said that students aspiring to work in North India or overseas would find it difficult to get employment if their spoken English was poor.
Principal, INC, M. Ponnusamy who welcomed the gathering said that while spoken English and computer skills would enable a person to get a job, knowledge of Hindi was a must for premium employment. Priority should be given for body language. Knowledge of French would be of considerable help to those trying jobs abroad. He said that the programme would be conducted till the end of June.
