Nilgiris Milk Union honours district toppers
The Khadi Board Minister K.Ramachandran distributing awards to a district topper at AAVIN in Udhagamandalam on Friday.As part of its community service activities, the Nilgiris District Cooperative Milk Producers Union (NDCMPU) honoured students who had excelled in the 2007 10th and 12th standard examinations, at a function organised here on Friday.Distributing the awards, the Khadi Board Minister K.Ramachandran said that the gesture of the Union was laudable.
“I am sure that it will help motivate children to bring out the best in them,” he added.Adverting to the financial and other difficulties being faced by the NDCMPU, he said that thanks to a special assistance of Rs. 1.10 crore provided to the Union by the government recently, things had started looking up.Efforts would be made to redress various grievances of the employees.The Collector in-charge C.Rajakumar said that the performance of the district in this year’s public examinations was good. He expressed the hope that it would be better during the coming years.Municipal Councillor K.A.Mustaffa also spoke.The Managing Director, NDCMPU, M.Gnanaguru, said that the students selected for the cash awards were the district topper in the tenth standard examinations Jindhusha of Shanthi Vijaya Girls Higher Secondary School, Udhagamandalam; and Sujayana Katherine of Stanes Higher Secondary School, Coonoor, who stood first the 12th standard examinations.
Children of employees of the Union who had done well were also given prizes.
