Tanker lorries flash strike
Seeking entry into the city during day time, drivers of petrol tanker lorries today went on a flash strike from this morning.As about 80 tanker lorries, carrying diesel and petrol from IOC and BPCL remained off the roads, supply of fuel to Erode, Coimbatore, Nilgiris and Dindigul districts was badly hit today.Authorities had imposed an entry ban during day and tankers were allowed only during night hours to refill nearly 100 petrol bunks in and around the city.The restriction was causing serious problem for the majority of the drivers and the strike was to draw the attention of the higher-ups on their plight, sources from the tankers lorry association said.
