Better demand from exporters pushed the prices up by Rs 2 to Rs 4 per kg for high grown leaf grades in the Coimbatore tea auction held last week, industry sources said on Monday.Though internal demand was limited for all leaf grades, Orthodox highgrown quoted dearer by Rs 2 to Rs 4 per kg, following better demand from exporters, while liquoring CTC leaf teas met some internal demand and ruled firm, they said.
In the dust category, orthodox quoted fairly steady with some withdrawals, while high price liquoring ctc teas were irregular and lower by rs.one to rs.two per kg.Orthodox high grown brokens quoted Rs 55 to Rs 76, fannings Rs 70 to Rs 76, while good CTC leaf brokens at Rs 47 to Rs 51, fannings Rs 48 to Rs 52, medium brokens Rs 41 to Rs 47 and fannings Rs 42 to Rs 47.Best CTC dust ruled at Rs 56 to Rs 63, good Rs 50 to Rs 56, medium Rs 47 to Rs 50 and medium orthodox dust Rs 40 to Rs 54. Of the total offerings of 6.40 lakh kgs, dust grades made up 4.30 lakh kgs, the sources said.
