BU created R & D centre
As part of its mission to set up a Science Park for basic research and helping industry through institution-industry link, Bharathiar University here has created a Research and Development Centre.The centre would encourage industries to participate in the Park, which would be unique at national-level, for promotion of industrially-oriented research, university sources said.It would strive to make purposeful mutually beneficial link between industry and the university for need-based research like in material upgradation, product development, synthesis of smart materials, software development, and nano devices, they said.The centre would also work for improving and enhancing research publications by faculty members and research scholars in the university and to increase research funding through individual, departmental and University research proposals.Dr V Selvarajan, former professor and head of department of physics, has been appointed director of the centre. He would monitor and interact with the faculty for enhancing publications and implementation of research projects, the sources added.
