3rd SERC School at AFAC
The Third SERC (Scheme of Engineering Research Council) School on Aviation Meteorology with special reference to atmospheric obscurity and the planetary boundary layer will be held at the Air Force Administrative College (AFAC) here.The School will be jointly organised from December 3 to 22 by Bharathiar University and AFAC and will be sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.According to a release from Bharathiar University, the School is expected to provide vital research and practical knowledge to researchers, academia and professional forecasters from both civil and Defence.
Some of the topics that the course will deal with are dynamics and thermodynamics, aviation meteorology, flight safety, satellite and radar aspects, numerical modelling, climatological, and synoptic aspects.Emphasis will also be given to interaction with aircrew, both from civil and Defence establishments.Experts from premier organisations like the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology and Centre of Atmospheric Science will address the participants.The intake is limited to 55. They will be from the academia and Defence.Participants are expected to have a minimum qualification of M. Sc. or M. Tech. in Physics/Meteorology/Mathematics/Atmospheric Sciences/Oceanography.
