Different Indo-Pak relation
Two Pakistani patients have regained hearing after undergoing an advanced laser treatment at the Vikaram ENT Hospital and Research Institute here recently. The hospital said that Sajeda Zakaria (58) could not hear anything for the last 40 years and Misbah-ul-Islam (29) experienced a ringing sound for 12 years. Both had been advised to use hearing aids and no treatment in Pakistan could provide a cure. This resulted in their work and life at home getting affected. They arrived here from Karachi in mid-August and were diagnosed with otosclerosis – a progressive degenerative condition of the temporal bone that resulted in the loss of hearing. They underwent a KTP laser stapedotomy under local anaesthesia. The hospital said they regained perfect hearing.
