50th International Week of the Deaf
A series of programmes will be organised in the city in connection with the 50th International Week of the Deaf by organisations working for the hearing impaired. Painting and quiz contests for hearing impaired school students, awareness rally on hearing impairment and a one-day cricket match for the hearing impaired will be some of them. All students and teachers from schools and colleges can participate in the rally.
They will be provided free lunch. At least 300 people, both hearing impaired and normal, are expected to participate in the rally. They will also submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the District Collector on getting certain welfare measures for the hearing impaired.The Deaf Leaders, Family Care, the Coimbatore Association for the Deaf, Tamil Nadu Deaf Forum and the Social Work Department of Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science together will organise the programmes.While the cricket match will be held on October 2 at the State Forest College Ground, Thadagam Road, the painting and quiz competitions will be held on October 5 at the Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science College.The rally will also be flagged off on the same day from the Red Cross Building or the Collectorate.For details regarding the painting and quiz competitions, contact K.
