This is one of the important road passing through cotton city of Coimbatore and popular pilgrimage centers Palani and Bannari.Since this road is the shortest route to connect Coimbatore with Mysore and Bangalore, vehicular traffic in this road is very heavy. Due to the heavy volume of traffic in this stretch, the existing pavement has been worn out badly and developed with ruts and potholes and also this stretch experience heavy rainfall during the recent monsoon season.
Hence, in order to protect the pavement from further damages, it is proposed to improve the stretch. Thiru Baalu also approved an amount of Rs. 195.41 lakh for improvement of Riding Quality work at km 212/4-219/0 on the same highway between Nallur and Vinnappally in Erode district. This is an important road as it connects many agricultural industrial, tourist, textile and pilgrimage centers in its vicinity.
