Competition for schoolstudents
The District Blindness Control Society has organised a competition for schoolstudents of Standard I to Plus-Two in artwork, poetry and essay writing, in connection with the World Sight Day that falls on October 11.The theme of the competition is ‘Eyes are my Treasure’. Each participant can take part only in one of three categories.The participants can do an artwork or write a poem or a 200-word essay.
The name of the participants, age, name of their school and contact address should be printed clearly on the reverse of the entries (their work) and these entries should be submitted to the District Blindness Control Society office at the Coimbatore Collectorate by 4 p.m. on October 3.Students of Government or aided schools can submit these to their headmasters or class teachers in the morning the same day.Crescendo – a concert for sight – will be held on October 9 at G.D. Auditorium.
Passes (Rs.150 each) for the programme will be available at Oxford Book Store on Tiruchi Road and AFA, 1244, Big Bazaar Street.A procession and public awareness campaign on “Vision for Children” – the theme of this year’s World Sight Day – has been organised for October 11.
