Foundry strike continues
The indefinite strike by the small and tiny foundry owners here, which started on October 22 seeking steps to control the raw material prices, continued on Thursday.Members of the Coimbatore Small and Tiny Foundry Owners’ Association met K. Subbarayan, MP, and officials of the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation.They have appealed to the Corporation to supply pig iron and coke to the units.A meeting of the association members will be held here on Saturday.The Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association has said in a release that if the strike by the foundry units continued, its members would also observe one-day closure on October 31 in support of the foundries.
