Normal rainfall is expected

Normal and near normal rainfall is expected in the State during the North-East Monsoon according to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. A release from the Agro Climate Research Centre, Centre for Soil and Crop Management Studies, the rainfall forecast can be expected for different districts with 60 per cent probability level.

At Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Thiruvannamalai, the Nilgiris, Erode, Coimbatore, Permabular, Tiruchirapalli, Madurai, Theni, Ramanathapuram, Tuticorin, Krishnagiri and Tirunelveli, 90 per cent to 110 per cent of the long term mean seasonal rainfall is expected. At Chennai, Vellore, Dharmapuri, Villupuram, Salem, Namakkal, Cuddalore, Karur, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Dindigul, Pudukottai, Thiruvarur, Sivaganga, Virudhanagar and Kanyakumari, 80 per cent to 90 per cent of the long term mean seasonal rainfall is expected. In hilly areas like Udhagamandalam and Kodaikannal, normal to above normal rainfall is expected.
