Signature campaign for conservation of wildlife species
The District Forest Officer, I. Anwardeen, has announced that a number of events, including signature campaign for conservation of wildlife species and afforestation drives would mark the wildlife week celebrations.Mr. Anwardeen said that celebrations beginning Tuesday would go on till October 8 and already competition for school and college students had been conducted.As part of the celebrations, the Department in Association with a Non-Governmental Organisation, Oli, would plant saplings near Race Course and at Ganapathy on October 2.On the same day, a signature campaign would be conducted for spreading awareness on the need for protecting and conserving the tiger population.On October 3, in association with the students from Kotagiri, the department along with the Mettuppalayam Forestry College would be organising a signature campaign for the conservation of Nilgiris Tahr.
