Spl teams formed by Corp for relief

The Coimbatore Corporation has formed special teams to provide relief to the people affected in the October 19 building collapse on Vincent Road here.As many as 1,900 people displaced by the collapse and also because of the evacuation from the other weak buildings on this stretch have been accommodated in eight relief centres put up at the schools of the Corporation. The special teams have been given the task of arranging food and water.Corporation Commissioner P. Muthuveeran said in press release that five sanitary inspectors were in charge of arranging for groceries and four others for oil and vegetables.A zonal sanitary officer, four sanitary officers and a field assistant were in charge of engaging cooks to prepare food for the affected people. Three assistant engineers and two junior engineers would handle the distribution of food packets.Two assistant engineers and two junior engineers would oversee the provision of temporary water tanks at the relief centres and also timely and adequate provision of drinking water by lorry.
