Richmond Hospital here has claimed that a new technique in knee joint replacement surgery reduces blood loss and pain.Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon at the hospital Velasamy Ravendran says in a press release that only the skin is cut and the muscles in the front portion of the knee joint are pushed back using specially developed retractors to expose the bone and joint.The knee joint damaged by arthritis is replaced with one made of chrome or titanium. Incisions in the muscle can be avoided in this procedure, he added.
