Workshop for faculty teaching

An orientation module on entrepreneurship education and a workshop for faculty teaching entrepreneurship at institutes that are members of the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) will be held at the G.R. Damodaran College of Science on Friday. The module is the first in the series of five workshops that are part of the one-year NEN-NSRCEL-IIMB-STVP Entrepreneurship Educators Course (EEC).According to a release, the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) is a not-for-profit programme with the goal of helping to launch the next generation of entrepreneurs in India.

Currently NEN works with over 200 top-tier academic institutes in over 30 cities and towns of India, reaching over 2,00,000 students on their campuses. It is involved with institutes from varied disciplines including engineering, management, arts, science and commerce, information technology and business schools. It helps member institutes initiate and expand their own entrepreneurship programmes, and facilitates the sharing of activities, events and resources across the network. The course will address the needs of a wide range of educators – from those who have never taught a management subject, to those building on their existing entrepreneurship knowledge.By the end of the course, participants will gain knowledge in the concepts and skills of entrepreneurship and guidance on how to design, launch and build a comprehensive and innovative set of entrepreneurship programmes on campuses and much more.Around 30 faculty members from 17 colleges in and around Coimbatore are expected to attend this workshop. These faculty members will then go on to attend the remaining modules of the course, three of which will be taught at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
