Study circle by Employment Exchange
A study circle organised at the District Employment Exchange in the city.As many as 30 candidates who passed the Village Administrative Officer examination early this year had prepared for the examinations through the study circles conducted at the District Employment Offices in this region.The study circle programme is going on at the exchange here for seven years and such classes are conducted at every panchayat union too. Enrolment and training are free of cost at these offices for any course that the candidates need. “For any examination, if there are 10 to 20 candidates then we can organise for special training,” says A. Latha, Regional Deputy Director of Employment.Several hundreds of candidates are preparing for various examinations through this facility, she says.Apart from the study circle programme, the centres have several books and magazines that help the students prepare for the examinations.
Ms. Latha says that candidates who are interested in making use of this facility need not be registered with the exchange. They can request for training in any subject such as spoken language or mathematics. “We are ready to help them out for any examination,” she said.This region, which comprises seven districts, has 95 panchayat unions. Only about 2,000 candidates are using the study circle facilities in these unions as against about nine lakh candidates are registered with the employment exchange in this region. They can participate in the study circles to prepare for competitive examinations.
Books worth Rs. 1 lakh are given to each union. They also get employment news, magazines and news papers. “More awareness is needed among candidates to use these facilities,” she says. And, it does not stop with books. Special coaching classes can also be organised for larger groups and interested candidates can approach the panchayat union office if they need the study circle centres opened at special timings.
