Canara Bank officers’ plea
The Canara Bank Officers’ Association has sought the restoration of the compassionate employment scheme in the bank and one more option for officers who want to go in for the pension scheme.General Secretary of the association S.K. Kohli told presspersons here on Saturday that these were some of the demands of the association. It also objected to the outsourcing of some of the tasks and demanded steps to meet the shortage of officers. “We are not totally opposed to outsourcing. But, we should decide the areas that can be outsourced.” Outdoor functions such as maintenance of ATMs could be outsourced, he said. The previous wage agreement expired in October 2007 and the wage revision process should be expedited. The association has called for a strike on January 25 and a two-day strike in February if its demands were not met.
