Kumbabishegam of Koniamman Temple

In view of the kumbabishegam of the Big Bazaar Street Koniamman Temple scheduled for Sunday between 9.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m., the City Police, besides certain diversions in traffic pattern have made elaborate security arrangements and crowd control measures.City Police Commissioner, C.K. Gandhirajan in a release said that barricades have been erected for regulating the queue both in front of the temple and near sannidhanams besides fixing surveillance cameras for watching out for criminal elements, pocket and bag pickers, and also two wheeler lifters.

The security arrangements would be under the direct supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, P. Sugumar (Law and Order) while traffic diversions and regulations would be under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), S. Manoharan.On the day of the kumbabishegam i.e., on Sunday (January 20), traffic diversions would be enforced on Big Bazaar Street from 6 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Vehicles from Palakkad and Pollachi Road entering the City particularly lorries bound for Avanashi Road and Tiruchi Road would have to take the Ukkadam – Valankulam railway over bridge and proceed straight, vehicles bound for Perur would have to take the bypass road along the Ukkadam tank.

Similarly, vehicles bound for Mettuppalayam and Thadagam Road would have to take the Perur Bypass, Selvapuram Shivalaya Theatre Junction, Ponniahrajapuram and Gandhipark to proceed further.Restrictions for entry of trucks would be as usual from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.Vehicles of those visiting the temple should be parked in the car parking facility of the Coimbatore Corporation, right opposite the temple.
