Coimbatore:The All Bharat Confederation of Senior Citizens and Pensioners has urged the Government to replace the contributory pension scheme that was implemented in April 2003 with the fixed scheme that was in vogue previously.This was one of the demands at the Pensioners’ Day held here recently, according to a release from R. Subramaniam, Secretary, South Branch of the confederation.It had also sought medical allowance of Rs. 100. The deduction for commutation should be calculated for 12 years as against 15.It urged the Government to extend the medical facilities to the spouse and heirs. It sought concessional travel facilities in Government transport and a rise in Pongal ex-gratia from Rs. 150 to Rs. 1,000.
