Bravery award recipient felicitated
District Collector, Neeraj Mittal on Monday felicitated and honoured the Chief Minister’s Anna Medal winner, J. Joseph Sudhakarn for his brave act of rescuing 75 passengers in a train accident that occurred in January 27, 2007.The Chief Minister had presented the award to the recipient at the Republic Day parade at Chennai on Saturday.The recipient of the award hailed from Rathinapuri in Coimbatore.
He is the son of a Fire and Rescue Services Personnel, Joseph Lourdu Nathan in Karur.The award included a citation, medal and a cash award of Rs 10,000.Joseph Sudhakarn was travelling by the Cheran Express Train from Coimbatore to Chennai on January 27, 2007 when the train derailed and three coaches caught fire.Joseph Sudhakarn, who was in a different coach in the train rescued 75 passengers and alerted the police and fire and rescue services personnel besides helping in rescue operations till mid-night.Joseph is currently pursuing his doctoral programme with the Loyola College, Chennai.
