Good responce for INTEC 2008

The 10th edition of the industrial trade fair (Intec 2008), which is on from February 1 to 6, is attracting a steady flow of business visitors. According to estimates, in the first two days alone, the fair has attracted around 68,000 business visitors which is considered a new high. The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codissia), organiser of the biennial event, expects the event to attract over two lakh visitors with an anticipated business turnover of around Rs 1,200 crore. This will be more than double of the Intec-2005 show, the previous best when it attracted 42 exhibitors from 15 overseas countries yielding business generation of more than Rs 500 crore. Mr KV Ganapathi, chairman of the organising committee said nearly 400 exhibitors representing heavy engineering, pneumatics, automation, tooling, moulds and dies, machine tooling, metal scraping, controls, gears and appliances have set up stalls at the fair.It has also attracted companies from Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, Japan, Taiwan, Turkey and the US. Nearly 525 business stalls have been set out on 10,250 sq m of display area of the Codissia’s Intec fair complex at Peelamedu, which has been recently expanded with additional roofed display grounds, through new investments of Rs 25 crore brought in by Codissia. About two lakh visitors are expected for Codissia’s flagship fair, which has gained prominence in the national trade fair itinerary. Nearly 60% of the participating companies in this year’s fair are the new entrants.
